Le secteur de la construction en France génère 240 millions de tonnes de déchets par an, soit bien plus que les 30 millions de tonnes de déchets ménagers, selon Adeline de Snoeck, créatrice de boucles circulaires pour le bureau d’études Néo Eco. Le sable est la deuxième matière la plus consommée après l’eau et 75% est utilisé dans le béton. La région Île-de-France est particulièrement touchée en raison des nombreux chantiers, notamment celui du futur métro périphérique Grand Paris Express. La construction du métro seul devrait générer 47 millions de tonnes de déblais sur les dix ans de chantier, soit entre 10% et 20% des déblais annuels de la région. Pour faire face à cette problématique, les acteurs du secteur développent des solutions d’économie circulaire et de recyclage, comme Yprema, une entreprise pionnière dans la récupération et le concassage de matériaux de construction dans le Val-de-Marne. Ils cherchent également à innover pour réduire l’utilisation de matériaux naturels et encourager le réemploi des matériaux issus de la déconstruction.
