Les Petes de Peterborough remportent le troisième match en prolongation contre les Knights de London lors de la finale de la OHL.

Owen Beck and the Peterborough Petes overcame a slow start to defeat the London Knights 6-5 in the third game of the OHL finals on Monday.

The Knights spoiled the festivities early in the game for the fans gathered at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Just 31 seconds into the game, Sean McGurn scored. On the play, Canadiens prospect defenseman Logan Mailloux picked up an assist.

Less than five minutes later, Ryan Winterton made it 2-0 for his team with his 13th goal of the playoffs.

The response came from the Canadiens’ second-round pick in the last draft. Beck surprised the goaltender with a sharp angle shot to bring his team within one goal late in the first period.

He struck again in the middle frame. Beck deflected a shot from the point and spotted his teammate J.R. Avon breaking away. He beat Zach Bowen with a nice move to tie the game.

The Knights led 5-4 after 40 minutes of play, but Chase Stillman tied the game to send both teams to overtime. Just two minutes into the extra period, Tucker Robertson jumped on a loose puck in the slot to give Peterborough the win.

The Petes had won the second game of the series 5-3 after losing the first game 3-0. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday for the fourth game.
