In an interview with Vogue published on Tuesday, the singer stated that it was “difficult” to constantly see her image scrutinized. “Man, I don’t even know. It’s hard, man. Honestly, no one can say anything about my body that I don’t have a more definite opinion about,” said the 21-year-old star. “I also think that if I were younger, if the Internet was talking about me like it is now when I was 11, I don’t think I would be able to exist, to be honest.”
She revealed that even though she is better at ignoring online criticism now, negativity still “hurts her.” “I love myself more than before, and I’m more interested in how I feel than how they feel,” she explained. “But also, it’s crazy because it still really hurts me.”
The performer of “Happier Than Ever” said that she takes her dog for a walk, takes baths, and plays games on her phone to manage her negative thoughts. “But it’s really hard, you know?,” she added. “I’ve had difficult moments, to be honest, and I’m still figuring some things out. But it’s really a weird life, I can say that.”
