The war of clashes continues. Obviously, Shakira hasn’t finished airing her dirty laundry in public, as she has written a new song about her ex, Gérard Piqué.
Shakira seeks revenge through song
Remember. The year 2023 had started off well for Shakira. But unfortunately, on January 14th, the Colombian singer released a new song in which she references her ex-partner’s infidelities.
A track that has been viewed over 87 million times on Youtube in just a few days. In this latest song, the Colombian star tears apart Gérard Piqué.
“I won’t come back to you, even if you cry or beg me. I have surpassed you and that’s why you’re with someone like you,” she sings. And she adds: “Lots of gym, but also work your brain a bit.”
She also didn’t hesitate to compare the new girlfriend of the football player to a Twingo. “You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You replaced a Rolex with a Casio,” she adds.
It’s safe to say that Shakira didn’t mince her words. The former Barcelona defender responded, in his own way, during a live stream on Twitch on Friday.
Gérard Piqué responds to his ex-wife
During the evening, his guests, football player Sergio Agüero and Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos didn’t miss the opportunity to taunt him about it. To which the football player responded by making references to Shakira’s song.
Indeed, these attacks seemed to amuse the main interested party the least. Invited to Twitch to talk about his Kings League, a competition he has just launched with rules borrowed from various sports (soccer, water polo, tennis…), Gérard Piqué appeared wearing a… Casio watch.
This was a rather ironic response to his ex-wife’s numerous clashes. He then announced a new partnership between the watchmaker and the Kings League, a statement confirmed by the company.
“Is this a joke? No, no, I’m serious. I’m telling you, this watch is for life,” said Gérard Piqué. The former defender then delivered another blow to Shakira… And to Javier Tebas, the head of Spanish football, who compared the Kings League to a “circus.”
Shakira Strikes Back with a New Song
Things are not improving between Shakira and her ex-husband Gérard Piqué. On Thursday, June 15th, the 46-year-old Colombian singer shared a snippet of her new song which is set to be released on June 29th through an Instagram video.
Against the backdrop of a surfing session, a section of the song titled Copa Vacía, which translates to “empty cup” in English, the mother of the family does not spare the Spanish football player, from whom she separated in June 2022.
“You are always so busy with your affairs. It would be nice, my love, if you could find some free time. Relax here on the couch and give me your attention,” she sings. And it doesn’t get any better from there.
“So you don’t need to be a poet to flatter me in my ear. Put down the phone, use your hand with me. I know you’re hot, but I’m even hotter,” she adds.
In another excerpt, shared shortly afterwards, this time on the social media of her singing partner, Shakira is heard saying: “I’ve been thirsty for you for a while now, and I don’t know why. I’ve been left unsatisfied and I wanted to drink from an empty cup,” Another salty remark that is unlikely to please Piqué!
