Profession Double : Un retour aux sources pour les 20 ans de l’émission

After last year’s fiasco, the creators of Profession Double wanted, for the show’s 20th anniversary, to start fresh and make a clear separation between its “new vision” and the events that occurred last year.

The actions of some participants had notably caused the show to be abruptly taken off the air, in the middle of the season, and a more or less successful return for its conclusion.

Talking about a “return to the roots”, the J Productions team and its broadcaster, Bell Média, tried this year to align the stars to establish a cultural change within the ecosystem that is in its 7th season on Noovo, and its 17th overall.

From the beginning of the auditions, there was a strong desire to stay away from the “influencer clique,” said Jean-Philippe Perron, who oversaw the auditions this summer and is also an ideator and developer for Productions J.

“We adjusted our lens through which we see the candidates,” he said.

“There were really a lot of people who auditioned and we chose the candidates we were most attached to and believed in,” he added, after the announcement of the candidates and the first twists.

He also emphasized the production’s interest in staging normal young people, “like the boy/girl next door,” who didn’t know each other or former contestants. All the candidates were selected based on their “genuine interest in finding love,” the ideator continued.

It should be noted that after leaving the houses, the contestants will be supervised by the content creators agency Jinfluence. However, no bar tour has been announced yet.

New sound, new breath

The revamp of the intro song, provided by FouKi, should also be released in a longer version later this autumn. Furthermore, there will be a first duo of hosts consisting of Alicia Moffet, who also becomes the first woman to host this reality TV show, and her partner Fred Robichaud.

It is worth noting that couple meetings will also be more highlighted on OD Andalusia.

Indeed, at the start of the adventure, the 11 boys will each have a one-on-one moment with a girl of their choice, even before stepping on the red carpet. Then, the eight girls will determine who will officially enter the boys’ house.

Two additional boys and two additional girls should also enter the houses, after the red carpet, but within the first weeks of the adventure.

While there are two carpenters among the gentlemen, this year there is also a family doctor, an architecture student, a financial director, and a life insurance analyst.

Among the ladies, four clinical nurses, or nursing students, will share their house with an actuarial analyst, a social worker, and a psychology student.

“This year, we have candidates with different intelligence and different conversation topics,” emphasized Jean-Philippe Perron, stating that there will still be drama and twists and that despite their profiles, “they are still young people of their time.”

Another novelty to consolidate the new direction of reality TV, the DEPUIS team has appointed an ethics commissioner, who will be present on site at all times. Me Chanel Sterie is a lawyer at BLG and practices in all areas of labor and employment law. She partly wrote the report of the Honorable Louise Arbour on sexual misconduct and harassment in the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of Defense.

In total, about a hundred people work on location and about fifty others hold the fort in Quebec.

The red carpet of OD Andalusia will be broadcast on Noovo on September 17th at 6:30 p.m.

The DEPUIS adventure will unofficially begin on September 10th with OD Andalusia: En route vers OD hosted by Félix-Antoine Tremblay, who will receive Jay Du Temple for the handover. Anne-Marie Withenshaw, Alex Perron, FouKi, and Éléonore Lagacée will also be present for the preparations.

Les Vendredis OD will return on the channel starting from September 22nd. Félix-Antoine Tremblay will have the exclusive of the week and will discuss with Kim Lévesque-Lizotte and Marie-Claude Savard in turn, in addition to receiving surprise guests.
