Almost all of the votes recorded during this first week of meetings, from which The Canadian Press has become aware, exceed 90% support for the strike.
The mandate requested by the common front unions is one of an unlimited general strike, which would be preceded by isolated or grouped strike days.
The votes held so far concern both the healthcare and social services sector and the education and college teaching sector.
General assemblies of union members are therefore scheduled to take place until mid-October within unions affiliated with the CSN, CSQ, FTQ, and APTS. Together, they represent 420,000 workers in public services.
