Why do I say that?
Because the CH defender was literally everywhere on the ice every time he was on.
Every time a scrum broke out between the two teams, Xhekaj was there to handle the situation and take care of the players from the Lightning.

I tell you, Xhekaj was so involved in what was happening on the ice that I was shocked when I saw he had been on the ice for only 16 minutes and 36 seconds.
For me, the CH number 72 had played at least 25.
Well, that’s Arber Xhekaj.
A defender who makes his presence felt every time he steps on the ice, whether it’s with big hits, a tussle with one (or more) opponents, or a powerful shot.

The CH defender didn’t win the hardest shot in the CH Skills Competition with a shot of 107.2 MPH for nothing…
Xhekaj is even capable of contributing offensively, as evidenced by the pass he got last night on Josh Anderson’s goal.
In short, things have really turned around for CH number 72 since his recall from Laval, where he is unlikely to return soon.

Xhekaj’s excellent performances also coincide with the fact that he has been paired with David Savard.
The veteran defenseman really seems to be helping Xhekaj play excellent, reliable, and stable hockey.
This once again demonstrates how important Savard is to the team, and that trading him would be a big risk.
Seeing Savard help Xhekaj play well like he is now could make management even more reluctant to part with the Quebec defenseman by next Friday’s trade deadline.
To be continued.
