Fabio Grosso has officially been appointed as coach of Lyon, the last-place team in L1, where he has signed a two-year contract. The Italian previously coached FC Sion between August 2020 and March 2021.
At 45 years old, Grosso, a World Cup champion with Italy in 2006 and former player of OL (2007-2009), has committed until June 30, 2024, with an option for an additional season. He will take up his duties on Monday, as stated in a press release by OL.
Fabio Grosso thus replaces Laurent Blanc, whose departure, “by mutual agreement,” was announced on September 11 after the home defeat against Paris Saint-Germain (4-1) in the league. He arrives at a club in the midst of a sporting and institutional crisis since the beginning of the season.
