It was a party on Saturday night in Basse-Ville de Québec as several thousand people paraded along 3rd Avenue where the floats and the king of the party, Bonhomme, were parading as part of the 70th Quebec Carnival’s first night parade.

Pyrotechnics, jigging, and circus, all the ingredients were gathered to spread the magic of the Carnival in Limoilou. Even Mother Nature joined the party as the mercury was far from the -25 degrees that almost forced the cancellation of last year’s first parade.
“Everything was perfect. It was very entertaining and there was something for everyone. I really liked that almost everything was at a good height for the kids, which made the parade even more enjoyable for them,” said Mélanie Labonté-Côté, who came with her three children.
