The prices of certain popular summer food products have skyrocketed, as explained by journalist David Boéri on the set of the 19/20 news program on Friday, July 7th. Which products are affected?

As the holidays begin, the prices of certain popular summer food products have experienced significant increases. “This is indeed the case with our plates, especially with mozzarella, one of the essential summer products. According to the franceinfo basket, the average price is 1.23 euros per package. This represents an increase of 29.5% compared to last year,” reports journalist David Boéri, who was present on the set of the 19/20 news program on Friday, July 7th. “This is the highest increase over one year among the 25 summer products,” specifies the journalist.

“Cumulative increases”

Other products such as chips or rosé wine have also experienced significant price increases. How can such price increases be justified? “These are cumulative increases. A product like mozzarella is affected by both the increase in milk prices and the increase in energy prices, both for production and transport,” explains David Boéri. Another category of expenses that has seen a significant increase is transportation. “It’s mainly the price of plane tickets that has soared. They have increased by 21%, partly because fuel is more expensive, but mainly because airlines are struggling to meet demand,” says the journalist.
