For the defense, Shetty chose Gary Neville as right back, while Patrice Evra, a favorite among fans, was chosen as left back.
Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic were chosen as central defenders. This duo is considered one of the best center-back partnerships in United’s history.
Shetty described Ferdinand as a reliable and confident figure in defense, while opting for Vidic due to his role in the strongest United team he has witnessed.
An honorable mention was also given to Gary Pallister in the heart of defense, a player Shetty said he would have chosen if he had asked his father.
Shetty explained how much he enjoyed watching Keane play for the Reds and that there was nothing better for a supporter than the Irishman’s energy and passion on the field.
David Beckham and Ryan Giggs, graduates of the Class of ’92, were chosen to complete the midfield in wide areas. Shetty praised Beckham for his ability to cross from the right flank and his masterful free kicks.
But it was Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo whom Shetty chose to complete his XI.
Shetty highlighted the quality of the understanding between Rooney and Ronaldo during their time at Old Trafford as the key factor in selecting the team that would lead the forward line.
