Le fils de Daniel Brière se relève après un incident regrettable

PHILADELPHIE | Expelled from Mercyhurst University and placed on 15 months probation for pushing an empty wheelchair down the stairs of a bar in Erie, Pennsylvania, Carson Brière now wants to recover from this regrettable incident that occurred in March 2023.

In his interview with the Journal, Daniel Brière recounted the story of his son.

“I can talk about this subject. We all make mistakes in life. I am a person who believes in the principle of second chances. But you have to want to improve and pick yourself up. Carson has realized many things since then. He was embarrassed and disappointed in himself.”

“He is not perfect today, but he has taken control of his life. He has worked on himself, and has also worked in the community.”

“I’m not saying he will never make another mistake. But he wants to become a better person. He was affected by it. He was not proud. I am proud of how he has responded. He chose to roll up his sleeves. He did not act like a person who could easily get away with it just because he is Daniel Brière’s son. He was repentant and felt sorry for the young woman [Sydney Benes].”

Slovakia and France

At 24 years old, Carson Brière has headed to Europe.

“Carson liked staying at home, but he realized it was time for him to leave,” Daniel mentioned. “He chose to play hockey in Slovakia at the beginning of the year, and now in France. He is far from home.”

As a father, Daniel reached out to his son, even though he was shocked and had called his actions “inexcusable.”

“You want to be tough with your child to make them realize what they have done. But at the same time, you also have to worry about them. You don’t want them to sink even further. It was very dark in front of him. He did not see the way out of it. He needed to navigate through all of this. He plays in the 2nd division in Neuilly-sur-Marne. He’s picking up French. He didn’t think he would need to use it!”
