Luka Rocco Magnotta transféré dans une prison à sécurité moyenne

Luka Rocco Magnotta, found guilty on all counts of the heinous murder of a Chinese student in 2012, has been transferred to a different prison facility, as reported by the “Toronto Sun”.

The infamously known murderer is now being held at La Macaza Institution, a medium-security prison in the Upper Laurentians.

Held at Port-Cartier, Magnotta reportedly received approval from authorities to be transferred after multiple requests.

According to information from the Toronto media, the forty-year-old now identifies as transgender and requires specialized treatment.

Violette, Magnotta’s new identity, has also been granted permission to move to La Macaza with the prisoner he married in 2017.

Several doctors from McGill University opposed the prisoner’s transfer, stating that he did not suffer from gender dysphoria but rather had a “fragile identity”, as revealed by documents obtained by the “Toronto Sun”.

The assassin had his request denied in 2022, as the Federal Court supported that his detention conditions remain “maximum”.

With his transfer to the Laurentians region, Magnotta joins serial killer and rapist Paul Bernado, who was transferred to the medium-security prison in 2023.

Bernado’s arrival at La Macaza sparked outrage from families, considering that the man had kidnapped, tortured, raped, and killed two teenage girls in the early 1990s in Ontario.
