Réactions des pilotes après les qualifications du GP de Bahreïn

Max Verstappen (Red Bull, author of the pole position at the Bahrain GP): “It was quite fun. The track had a lot of grip but there was also wind and it was complicated to put everything together in one lap. In Q1 and Q2, you go faster and faster, but in Q3 you have to give it your all and it was a bit harder than expected. But I am obviously delighted to be in pole position. It was a bit unexpected, but the car has performed well for us.”

The race is going to be close. We seem to have a good race pace, which is the most important thing. I am confident that we can have a solid race tomorrow (Saturday).”

“Overall, it’s a good qualifying to start the year.”

Charles Leclerc (Ferrari, 2nd in qualifying): “I am a bit disappointed, even though we had a good qualifying session. The weekend has been difficult so far. We tried a lot of things during the three free practice sessions, then I found the best compromise in qualifying. Q1 was a bit tricky. Unfortunately, we used two new sets of soft tires, which compromised Q3 a bit. But overall, it’s a good qualifying to start the year. We are in a better position than a year ago, so that’s good. Now, we need to see the race pace.”

I think we lost a bit of pace with a set of used tires in Q3. Then you have to readapt to the new tires, and I lost a bit there. But overall, the qualifications were positive.”

I am convinced that we have taken a step forward. But we have to wait and see how much we have progressed in the race. We really think that Red Bull still has an advantage in the race.”
