Winners 3-2 after overtime in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Octoduriens take 7th place in the Swiss League standings. Meanwhile, Sierre lost to Bâle at Graben.
Tuesday, the 44th and penultimate day of the Swiss League championship delivered its verdict. Martigny, Winterthur and Viège will compete for the last two qualifying places for the play-offs in the ultimate round of the regular season, which will take place on Friday.
Tuesday, Martigny took two precious points in La Chaux-de-Fonds. At Mélèzes, Octodurian goals from Ortenszky, the inevitable Fuhrer (his 31st of the season) and Reinhard in overtime allowed the Valaisans to celebrate a deserved victory (3-2). HCV Martigny (58 pts) now ranks in 7th place in the standings, with the same number of points as Viège and Winterthur, who also experienced the joys of victory.
Everything will be decided on Friday
The Upper Valaisans did the job on the ice of the red lantern Bellinzona (1-4), while the Zurichois defeated their neighbors from Grasshopper by the same score. For Martigny (7th), Viège (8th) and Winterthur (9th), everything will be decided on Friday on the last day, with matches against Bellinzona, Grasshopper and La Chaux-de-Fonds, respectively.
Meanwhile, Sierre was beaten at home by Bâle (2-5). Despite the opening goal from Arnaud Montandon after 17 seconds, the Valaisans conceded four goals in a row, to finally lose 2-5. Sierre will have to wait until Friday and the end of their match against Olten on the last day to know if it will finish in 4th or 5th place in the final standings. In the other match of the evening, Olten won on the ice of Thurgau (1-3)
