According to various media reports, quarterback Russell Wilson is reportedly intending to sign a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The news was reported Sunday night by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Wilson would reportedly agree to a one-year deal with the Steelers, who will pay him $1.2 million. It should be noted that the Denver Broncos will have to pay $39 million to the 35-year-old quarterback next year after releasing him following only two seasons of his $240 million five-year mega contract signed in 2022.
He will compete for the starting quarterback position with young Kenny Pickett, who has had mixed results in his first two seasons in the NFL.
Pickett is currently the only quarterback under contract with the Steelers, as Mason Rudolph became a free agent after making three starts for the Steelers last year.
After a remarkable 10-season stint with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson had two underwhelming seasons with the Broncos, failing to make the playoffs each time.
The Broncos had an 11-19 record in Wilson’s 30 starts with the team. He tallied 42 touchdown passes to 19 interceptions with Denver.
