The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) confirmed on Friday, January 26, the list of participants in the Olympic Qualifying Series in breaking.
Eighty athletes, 40 B-Boys and 40 B-Girls, will attempt to obtain the final seven quota spots per gender for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
We now know 76 of them, with the final four, two per gender, being selected on the principle of universality and announced at a later date.
The Olympic Qualifying Series (OQS) is set to be one of the major events of 2024 with competitions in BMX Freestyle, breaking, skateboarding, and sport climbing taking place in the same location, with Olympic quotas for Paris 2024 at stake.
In total, nearly 500 athletes will compete from May 16 to 19 on the banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai (CHN) and then from June 20 to 23 at the Ludovika University campus in Budapest (HUN). Among them, 40 B-Girls and 40 B-Boys, including several French athletes who will try to obtain a ticket to Place de la Concorde and join B-Boy Dany Dann, who obtained a quota at the last European Games.
*As the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) are the only authorities authorized to determine who will represent their country at the Olympic Games, the participation of each athlete in the Paris 2024 Games will be the responsibility of the respective NOCs, who will select their national delegation for Paris.
