– SMS frauduleux: sept suspects identifiés en Vaud

La police vaudoise a arrêté sept personnes soupçonnées d’avoir commis des fraudes de type “phishing” (hameçonnage) par SMS. Le montant total des préjudices s’élève à 170 000 francs.
Les faits remontent à avril 2022 et se sont étendus jusqu’à juin dernier. Quarante plaintes ont été déposées, annonce la police vaudoise vendredi.
Les méthodes utilisées pouvaient varier, mais en général, le SMS annonçait la présence d’un colis en attente de livraison et demandait un paiement pour l’obtenir. La victime devait cliquer sur un lien qui la redirigeait vers une page imitant le site web de La Poste.
La personne trompée devait ensuite saisir les informations de sa carte de crédit, qui étaient ensuite utilisées par les escrocs pour effectuer divers achats. Dans l’un de ces cas, plus de 800 000 SMS frauduleux ont été envoyés.
Quatre en détention provisoire
Les personnes identifiées ont entre 17 et 46 ans et sont de nationalité suisse pour trois d’entre elles et étrangère pour quatre d’entre elles. Elles résident dans le canton de Vaud. Quatre de ces auteurs, dont certains agissaient en collaboration, ont été placés en détention provisoire.
Quatre procédures pénales ont été ouvertes par le Ministère public et le Tribunal des mineurs. Les enquêtes ont été confiées aux inspecteurs de la police de sûreté.
